Although Murchison proved the better side, Violet Town took many positives from Saturday’s game including six new faces introduced for the coming weeks that will enable the side to be more competitive and extend the club’s depth.
The two standouts for the day were skipper Ryan Jennings and Nick Abley.
Jennings completely dominated Murchison’s forwards at full-back, and his class and ball movement was brilliant.
And for the third time in a row, Abley collected more than 35 possessions and won numerous clearances playing on-ball as well as chiming in for two goals.
Veteran Tim Ross, who has played his entire career at Violet Town from an early age, was inspirational, his attack on the ball and silky skills a joy to watch.
And at half-back, Jett Bewick played his best game of the season, clearing the defensive zone with a penetrating left kick.
Meanwhile, new roles to Ryan Lloyd-Williams and Ashton Triffett saw them taking on two of the better players for Murchison and coming out comfortable winners.
Their respective performances are huge steps in their short senior careers so far.

Reserves
Facing a deficit of 24 points at the final break, Violet Town had a chance to seal the win in the final few minutes, but missed goals cost them dearly as they went down by 10 points to Murchison-Toolamba in reserves.
League best and fairest favourite Nick Papakalodoukas made it three best on grounds in a row with a superb performance that should push his case for selection in the senior side even further.
Meanwhile, Riley Dowell and Nathan Anderson also put in solid performances, picking up numerous possessions.
