Dr Greg Moore, from the University of Melbourne, is recognised as a leading expert in arboriculture.
He will be speaking in Benalla on Wednesday, February 22 from 7pm at the Uniting Church on Carrier St.
Dr Moore was principal of Burnley Horticultural College for 20 years, and he has served on the board of a number of environmental organisations: Trust for Nature, Greening Australia, The Significant Tree Register of the National Trust, Sustainable Gardening Australia and TREENET.
He has also served as chair of several of these boards.
He was recognised for his services to the environment with an OAM in 2017, and is a regular presenter on 3AW and ABC radio.
Dr Moore has a passionate interest in urban landscapes, and the role that trees play in the cooling of a local environment, especially as we are meeting the challenge of a warming climate.
BSFG is very pleased that Dr Moore has accepted our invitation to come to Benalla.
We invite members of the public to come and hear his presentation, and contribute to the discussion about the future landscapes of our communities.
Please register for this free event via www.trybooking.com/CFIRD or by emailing bsfginc@gmail.com with your name and contact number.
BSFG has invited councillors and council officers from Benalla Rural City, Wangaratta Rural City, Strathbogie Shire, Mansfield Shire, Indigo Shire and Greater Shepparton to attend, as we consider this event to be an ideal opportunity to share ideas about urban streetscapes, housing subdivisions, and the provision of cooling spaces in our towns.
