VicGrid seeks public feedback on renewable energy zones in Victoria

VicGrid has unveiled a map showcasing potential sites for future renewable energy zones across Victoria, with a significant portion of the north-east included.

The public has until Monday, September 30 to provide feedback on the study area.

State Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland said she recommends local people investigate locations chosen on the map and provide feedback via the provided online form.

“This map has included several areas of crucial agricultural land in our region, and I highly recommend anyone that might be impacted to have their say through VicGrid’s feedback form,” she said.

“I’ve heard from several farmers and landowners in the region who have outlined their frustrations over the land being chosen for renewable energy projects, and this is a perfect way to ensure your voice is being heard, and our agricultural land is protected.

“Too often we are seeing a lack of community consultation result in our prime land being covered with renewable projects when there are several more suitable options available.

“By participating in this feedback, we can ensure this is avoided.”

Ms Cleeland said community consultation was important to prevent prime agricultural land from being utilised for renewable projects, and feels there are more appropriate alternatives available.
