After its season was cancelled last week, the best of plans have been thrown into disarray.
But the COVID-19 hurdle won’t stop the Towners celebrating important milestones this year, including two premiership reunions.
It may just look a little different.
Government restrictions currently sit at 20 person gatherings inside.
Violet Town disappointed with season ending call
Violet Town president Matt Holmes said the club would work through its plans to hold several planned functions later in the year in accordance with the restrictions in place at the time.
“It is milestone year; a strange milestone year,” Holmes said.
“Originally we were planning on having around 300 people in attendance on the night (of the 125th anniversary).
“There are restrictions, no football; we may have to downgrade our expectations.
“Do we hold off? Or try get 100 people in to support the club? It is still all unknown.”
The club was also scheduled to hold a 30 and 60-year premiership reunion for its 1990 and 1960 premiership teams respectively.
Kyabram District League season cancelled
“The feedback from our premiership players is they would still like to do something this year,” Holmes said.
“Sixty years feels a bit more special than 61.”
“My grandfather was one of the 1960 players - they are really looking forward to it.”
Senior coach Joel Price said the buzz around town had supporters excited both on-and-off the field this year.
“The whole town was excited,” Price said.
“We recruited well this season, members are well up after a few years, sponsorship is good.
“The footy club was probably in its strongest position for a while - that’s why its disappointing not to get out there and play.”
Holmes said the club would also continue to engage with its supporters via social media, before a return to social gatherings at the clubhouse later in the year.

“We’ll keep running our weekly member draw to keep that engagement until restrictions ease,” he said.
“Then we’ll run some community events, football functions.
“We’re not expecting our players from Melbourne to come out, but we want to try keep the community involved.”
