As the votes began to be counted, Ms O’Keeffe reflected to News deputy editor Max Stainkamph on her involvement in the 2022 Victorian Election.
“It’s been a really busy time and today was the end of the race really,” Ms O’Keeffe said.
“I feel really proud of the campaign we’ve had and the support I’ve had and I think we’ve given ourselves a chance.
“We’ve given it our all and I think you walk away knowing that you’ve given it your best shot - and that’s how I feel.
“It’s very strange after being so, so busy and having so much on (to sit back and think) okay that’s it, it’s actually finished.
“It’s been an amazing experience, I’ve met some incredible people along the way and I think just being so supported in the way that I have, I’m so grateful for that to give me such a great opportunity and a great chance.”
Ms O’Keeffe covered plenty of ground on the final day of the election, getting out to Numurkah this morning before heading back into town.
“It was really busy, I started out in Numurkah and it was really busy out there, I spent three hours (there)” she said.
“Then I went to St Brendan’s, I went to Bouchier St, I went to Mooroopna, I went to St Georges Rd and then I went to Wilmot Rd.
“You try to get to as many as you can but it is very hard to see everybody.”
