The special exhibition at the Visitor Information Centre will coincide with the Benalla Festival and will be open on Saturday and Sunday.
It is designed to be a taster of the new Wheel to Wheel — Festival of the Motorcycle, which will be run to coincide with the Benalla Street Art festival.
A Wheel to Wheel spokesperson said the Rose City is gaining a reputation for its festivals, arts and artistic expression.
“Benalla has the motto of See the Art in Everything,” the spokesperson said.
“Supported by this theme, our objective is to create a European-style festival beginning with an exhibition of motorcycles from the early 1900s though to modern times.
“They have been largely sourced from local enthusiasts’ collections from our region that show history, design and style.
“Some will be rare, some pristine, others will be straight out of the shed.”
Led by Benalla’s Jim Myconos, a committee of local enthusiasts has been formed to build on the potential of this project.
The Wheel to Wheel project will begin with this exhibition.
“The first one will run as part of the Benalla Festival, and will demonstrate the potential of a motorcycle festival in Benalla,” My Myconos said.
“(It will) provide an opportunity to engage the broader community, volunteers and the necessary industry partners that will be required to support future events.”
After this taster, Wheel to Wheel – Festival of the Motorcycle will take place each April, with exact dates still to be confirmed.
