On Tuesday, September 24, Benalla Bowls Club hosted its inaugural school holiday activity, drawing in a crowd of 38 enthusiastic children, all accompanied by their parents and grandparents.

A BBC spokesperson said the event was specifically designed for children aged 6-12. It started with a comprehensive introduction to the sport of lawn bowls.

“Under the guidance of our dedicated volunteers, the children eagerly practised essential bowling techniques, including directional and weighted bowling, understanding the bias of the bowls, and aiming at targets,” the spokesperson said.

“It was heartening to witness some impressive beginner talent as the kids honed their skills.

“The session culminated in a friendly competition where each child had the chance to bowl closest to the target. Winners were rewarded with small prizes for their efforts.”

Following the bowling, the young participants moved into the bistro, where they showcased their culinary skills by making their own pizzas.

The talented BBC chefs took through the cooking process, ensuring the delicious pizzas were enjoyed by all.

“Overall, the event was a resounding success, with all the children actively participating and showing no hesitation in trying their hand at bowl,” the spokesperson said.

“We look forward to hosting more holiday events for kids in the future, and we hope this experience encourages families to join us for the Friday Evening Scrounger Bowls event starting at the end of October.

“Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this day a memorable one.”
