The club started its search for a part-time coach earlier this year, posting a job search on the Bowls Victoria website.

Benalla Bowls Club chief executive Wendy Joseph said the club was looking for a minimum NCAS-Accredited level-two coach and A-grade player in their own right.
“We want someone who can bring our teams and club together and achieve those goals like premierships,” Joseph said.
“It’s always nice to bring home premierships and you don’t always get there without the assistance of a coach.”
The club went through the second half of the 2019/20 pennant season without a mentor before quickly identifying they needed to fill the void once again.

“They (coach) would be the first port of call for players and be available to bowlers of all abilities,” Joseph said.
“They would be there through the training of pennants, and pennant days.
“But they would also be the first contact at the club for beginners and be available for such things as bowls etiquette, training sessions, and clinics.”
Though no sport is being played at the moment, the pennant season is still on track to start in October.
Joseph confirmed the club would like to have the new coach locked in and ready to go prior to the season-opener.

With the local club boasting more than 200 members and four bowling greens - including two needlepunch - Joseph welcomed any new person looking to take up or give a different sport a go.
“We have absolutely great conditions on the green,” she said.
“People are welcome to come and play here and learn the sport.”
“Our players range in ability and there are different levels of pennant, so most people can be accommodated, as well as get coaching to build up their skills.”
