East Shepparton defied odds in the Friday night fixture to knock off previously second-placed Tally in a stunning two-shot win.
The two sides descended on Tallygaroopna Bowls Club heavily impacted by player shortages, but that certainly had no impact on the quality or intensity of the game, with East winning the big moments to come away with a memorable triumph.
Tallygaroopna’s round nine opponents, Stanhope, also went down last weekend, after a 40-shot loss to Shepparton Park.
The win brought the Parkers’ shot difference back into the positive, which could be crucial as the race for the top four heats up in the back half of the season.
The Parkers will face juggernaut Shepparton Golf in round nine, a mammoth task with some big-name Golfers expected to make their return to the side.
Tatura-Hill Top produced a brave performance against Golf in round eight, who survived the scare to keep its perfect record intact, triumphing 16-91 to 2-88.
With all four rinks decided by six shots or less, Golf’s experience would prove the difference in the end, with Kristoffer Ferguson, Connor Trewren and Brad Orr delivering the goods.
Euroa will be back on its home carpet to welcome East Shepparton, who will be buoyed by last weekend’s result.
This weekend’s round nine contest between Shepparton Park and Shepparton Golf will begin earlier than normal, and will start at noon.
