A1s travelled to Corowa RSL and suffered a 49/62 defeat. Our only winning rink was Shane Mathieson, Ted Armstrong, Yvonne Capp and Brendan Rettke, 19/18. The other rinks were Peter Brock 20/25 and Bill Armstrong 10/19.
The A3s were away at Rutherglen, going down 54/58 with two rinks getting up. Ray Bradley, Janis McClure, Di Wilson and John Spinks won 24/19, and Brenda Sunderland, Remo Ascenzo, Wendy Rettke and Christine Gray won 21/16, while Jim Hodder’s rink went down 9/23.
The B1s were home to Bright, going down 59/61. Our only winning rink was Graeme Greene, Paul Chapman, Kyle Margat and Christine Randell, 32/9, but other results were Loch Lidgerwood 16/21 and Hans Dartmann 11/31.
Weekend pennant saw our best performances of the season, with all three sections winning!
A2s ventured across the lake to find where we both sit ladder-wise. In a closely contested match we came out on top by 76/63. The two winning rinks were David Lindsay, John Stevens, Errol Tomkins and Brendan Rettke 22/10, and Graeme Pitts, Kevin Morrison, Lorna Armstrong and Wayne Neylon 23/11.
But the other rinks still need to keep the pressure on the opposition, which was the case with Bill Armstrong 17/22 and Peter Brock 20/14.
Our A3s travelled up the Hume to Wodonga and came home with a 81/72 win. Ray Bradley, Ken Ackerman, Janis McClure and Glenda Wines won 22/15 and Dale Brooker, Remo Ascenzo, Di Wilson 23/15.
Alan Campbell, Graeme Greene, Graeme McNutt and Jack Berry 19/18 also had a win, while Tim Hill went down 17/24.
The A4s were victorious at Mansfield, winning 78/77.
The rinks up were Brian Higgins, Des Blyss, Kath Nunan and Judy Barber 21/13, Loch Lidgerwood, Stanley Gardner, Heather Hodder and Pete Symons 25/11. The other two results were Max Drummond 18/20 and Adrian Mennen 14/33.
Wednesday evening sees the registration and practice night for Hump Day barefoot bowls. Members, put your teams on the entry sheet in the members’ room. It’s a 6pm start with a sausage sizzle.
