On December 10, three Benalla women, Jessie Kipping, Kate Scorah and Eliza Walker, tested their abilities at the KSS Strongwoman Competition held in Geelong.

Strongwoman, also referred to as strength athletics, is a sport in which competitors are tested for their pure strength, using a variety of different tasks.
Women of all ages, from teens to strong women over 60, came together in Geelong to showcase the strength they have all been working hard to develop.
The three keen members of Primal Health Club Benalla, coached by Jack Bennett and assistant coach Rebecca Mudd, did not disappoint at the competition.
The five events they competed in were the Axel Overhead Medley, Farmers Carry into Type Flips Event, Keg, Stone and Sandbag Carry and Load Medley, Max Deadlift and Monster Dumbbell Press.
Kipping smashed her Deadlift personal best effort with a 115kg lift, and said it was an incredible atmosphere.
“Having your competitors be your biggest cheer squad is something I’ve never experienced in any other sport,” Kipping said.
“It’s amazing.”
Kipping plans on competing in two strongwoman competitions next year.
Mum of two, Scorah had an impressive day with three first and two second places and claimed the overall first place for her weight division.
Having only joined Primal Health Club last October, Scorah was delighted to smash her Deadlift personal best with a 120kg lift.
“I never thought I’d be where I am today,” Scorah said.
“Seriously, do not give up. Mind over matter is a real thing.”
Scorah plans on entering more strongwoman competitions in the future and ‘living the best me.’
Personal trainer Walker fought a close battle in her weight division, taking out a first, three second places, and a sixth place in her events, which saw her take third place overall by half a point.
She was ecstatic to smash her Deadlift personal best with a 132.5kg lift.
Being no stranger to athletic competitions, Walker is excited to continue to compete again.
“Everyone was so encouraging,” Walker said.
“It was so uplifting to see so many women of different ages and body types showcase what they could do.
“(Don’t) be afraid of weight training. Along with the multitude of health benefits, especially for women, there is nothing better than feeling strong.”
