Tallygaroopna’s David Daws claimed the men’s singles crown at Stanhope earlier this month, ousting Euroa’s Ken Sutcliffe in a tight final.
Daws eventually secured the win 25-21 after defeating Paul Nichols (25-11) in the final four.
Sutcliffe had bested Mitch Sidebottom 25-17 in his semi-final.
It was an all-Shepparton Park final in the women’s singles, with Sue Tyson taking a thrilling 25-24 victory over clubmate Marg Thorne.
Tyson trailed for much of the contest before storming over the top with positive results on five of the final six ends.
Thorne defeated Marg Cerini 25-15 in the semi-final, while Tyson had a 25-23 win over Lea Beattie.
In the Over-60s pairs it was also Thorne and Tyson dominating — this time as a dynamic duo.
The pair claimed the women’s crown with a 15-14 win over fellow Parkers Bev Cahill and Marg Smyth.
Both semi-finals in the competition were tight fixtures as well, with the eventual winners getting through on an extra end and Cahill and Smyth winning by one shot.
In the men’s event, Shepparton Golf’s Frank Ivak and Geoff Cobbledick won the title 22-13 over previous champions Allan Hueston and Peter Naughton.
The women’s Over-60s singles event went the way of Rushworth’s Jean Sprague in a 21-15 victory over Di Hands.
Meanwhile, the men’s Over-60s singles had Joe Greco of Kyabram reigning supreme, 21-13, against Jim Oliver.
Sectional play has been completed in the men’s and women’s pairs events, with knockout matches beginning on Sunday at Shepparton Golf from 9.15am.
