Cobram took on Nurmurkah at Scott’s Oval in round five of the Murray football league with both sides looking confident as they strolled out on to the field.

Such confidence wasn’t just for show. Both teams were equally matched in strength and strategy in the first quarter, which ended with both sides locked on 20 points.
Cobram took the lead in the second quarter, supported on by their passionate fans, to get ahead of Nurmurkah by 12 points, 45-33, at half-time.
However by the end of the third quarter it was Nurmurkah who was all smiles, surging ahead, 65-59.
The home team wasn’t going down without a fight but ultimately they were unable to take back the lead from their opponents.
The final score was 83-69.
Top players for Cobram included Harry Beasley, Mitch Ward, Matteo Allen, Luca Allen, Samuel Beasley and Hunter Verhoeven.
Meanwhile, Clancy Lester, Nathan Hicks, Jordan O’Dwyer, Joshua O'Dwyer, Braydon Sutton and Matthew Smyth were Nurmurkah’s best players.
Hunter Verhoeven was Cobram’s best in front of goal with three to his name. Nurmurkah’s Braydon Sutton left with five goals in the bag.
Cobram currently sits fourth on the ladder and will next play Deniliquin.
Nurmurkah is currently ranked ninth and will face off against Mulwala.
In other Cobram football news, the under-17s won 115-9 while the under-14s defeated Nurmurkah, 116-6.
