Crossman set to represent Victoria

Echuca tennis ace Isabella Crossman has officially been announced as a Victorian representative after being selected in the state under-15 tennis side for the upcoming Australian Teams Championships.

Crossman and her Victorian junior teammates were at a function in Melbourne last weekend to congratulate them on their achievements and present all the players with their uniforms.

Tennis Victoria’s Competitive Play Lead Andrew Reynolds was excited to announce the Victorian teams and reward players for their impressive performances to date.

“All players representing Victoria in the Australian Teams Championships should be extremely proud,” Reynolds said.

“These players are not only selected on their results, but also on their commitment to the sport across 12 months of the year. It will be a wonderful team experience and we wish everyone a successful trip to Queensland and a great event.”

The national championships will take place in Carrara, Queensland later this month, with Crossman competing against some of the top young tennis players in Australia and New Zealand.

It is the second time in as many years that Crossman has been chosen for the Victorian squad, but this will be her first time competing.

She was selected to the Victorian team last year, but the tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It has been a stellar year so far on the court for Crossman, who plays for Rich River Tennis Club, with the youngster winning her first International Tennis Federation Junior Tour title in Darwin last month.

Her talents on the court also earned her the Tennis Athlete of the Year prize at the Bendigo Academy of Sport.
