With the sun coming out for Saturday action the greens were ready to go and for Alexandra a second impressive victory in a row has the side sitting on top of the ladder.
Downing East Shepparton 4-69 to 14-80, the ladder leader managed to get over the line thanks to a strong rink two performance.
Led by skip Robert Mayfield, the 32-10 rink two win cancelled out East Shepparton’s rink one and four victories to ensure another resounding result.
Elsewhere, Tatura-Hill Top secured its first win of the campaign, defeating Seymour VRI 14-84 to 4-77.
Bouncing back from a big loss to Alexandra the previous week, the Bulldogs did enough to secure the win.
The performance of Wayne Shepherd’s quartet in rink two and Nick Tziros’ squad in rink three underlined the victory, with the 14 and 16-shot margins helping the team gain a positive result.
Despite the loss, VRI picked up four points for its efforts in rink one and four.
Continuing the pattern of close rinks was Dookie and Mooroopna Golf, with Golf running out a 3-59 to 15-76 winner.
While Mooroopna managed to secure the win in convincing fashion, a draw in rink one and a two-shot win in rink two means Dookie collected three points for the loss.
At Murchison the home side fell to Colbinabbin 4-57 to 14-80.
Despite wins in rinks one and two, Murchison could not keep up with Colbinabbin’s rink three and four sides.
The result has Colbinabbin sitting in second spot on the ladder, while Murchison remains planted to the bottom.
Lastly, Merrigum collected a whopping 16 points from its game against Eildon, running out a 2-68 to 16-93 winner.
Taking out three rinks, a positive spell from the Steve Hall-skipped rink two was not enough to get Eildon back in the contest.
