Goorambat senior footy side looking strong as netballers fail to get past Tarra

The boys were keen to get back on the winner’s list again. In a scrappy first quarter, they took a two-goal lead into the first break.

Sully Malay continued his great consistent form, working hard, in and under at every contest.
Jamie Dunne was great through the midfield, utilising his good foot skills to hit up the Bats forwards.
Lachie Boyle was great all over the ground, using his fitness and pace to win plenty of the footy.
The Bats kicked away in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, kicking seven goals in both, respectively.
Victor Butler played a great game, consistently working hard all day. Brayden Stepien had a standout game, stepping up and slotting six majors for the day.
Angus Burston was everywhere all day, dominating at every contest with clean hands and good skills in a best-on-ground performance.
The boys ran out comfortable winners in the end and would be very happy to get back on the winner’s list, regaining some great form.

A-grade netball
On a beautiful winter's day Goorambat travelled to Tarrawingee.
With a slow start, the in-form Tarra took advantage, getting a strong lead, but Goorambat weren’t going to give up.
The mid-court ran hard all day with Carli Hogan delivering great feeds and drives.
Ally Ellis playing out of position shot strongly all game with some great long bombs against a tall and strong Tarra defence. Kylie Relf created great movement, feeding and backing Ellis in the ring.
Unfortunately, Goorambat had too many unforced errors and Tarra ran away with a strong win.
Credit to the Goorambat girls that kept fighting all game.

Reserves football
The boys arrived fired up and ready for a great battle against Tarra. The Bats started on fire, scoring three first quarter goals. Todd Wapling worked hard at full forward, taking a great contested mark early and converting for a goal to get the boys up and about.
Nathan Holmes, again, continued his good form in the backline, rebounding from defence well. Tarra took a small margin into half-time, and it was shaping up to be a strong battle in the second half.
Declan Lawford ran hard on the wing, using his foot speed to apply plenty of pressure and push the Bats into attack. Dylan Brain was great in the centre and ran hard all day, covering plenty of ground and winning the contested footy.
Mitch Dansey had a great game off half-back, kicking the ball well into attack. Utility Dan Bryant had a great game in the ruck and worked hard, swapping at centre-half forward, getting plenty of footy in a best-on-ground performance for the Bats.
Unfortunately, Tarra ran away with the lead in the second half to get the win. The boys showed plenty of improvement and positive signs for the rest of the season.

B-reserve netball
Despite being close to Tarrawingee on the ladder, the B-reserve side were defeated, however Goorambat had some strong plays and should be proud of their efforts.
Ella Woods and Kate Nolan were instrumental in the ring, working against tall defenders.
Along with Abby Hammond, the shooters were able to get a good score on the board.
Best-on went to Grace Handley for her consistency with strong leads and great feeding into the ring.
In addition, Natalie Sinclair has improved out of sight, which showed on the weekend with her ability to deliver strong passes and look for the best option on court.

C-grade netball
With a slow start to the game Tarra were strong and quick, but the Bats were able to keep their own.
With Tarra up at the end of first quarter, the Bats knew that they had to fight for the ball. Charli Button provided lots of pressure down the court and got many interceptions off the ball.
Ameila Feldtmann, Molly Martin and Eleanor Renkin put plenty of pressure on the Tarra shooters and were able to get many intercepts and create many turnovers.
The Bats moved the ball very well down the court and were able to get it into the shooters with ease.
Ella Parrant was able to feed nicely into the ring while also getting many turnovers and providing lots of pressure all down the court. With Bats improving every week, they were able to come away with the win.

Under-15s Netball
The girls were very determined and focused from the second that whistle blew, scoring the first goal of the game.
Each player gave it their 100 per cent effort, never giving up.
The girls played their best game yet, implementing leading for the ball and making space.
Alarna Button played an incredible game in shooting, leading for every ball and making some great passes into the ring.
Amali Mackenzie gave it her absolute all and played a phenomenal game, getting some insane intercepts and turning the ball over.
Willow Hamill played incredible as always in centre and even gave goal attack a shot for a quarter, feeding some amazing passes in the ring.
Ella Hogan returned to the team strong and confident, playing a brilliant game in mid-court, making some great leads and really holding her player.
Congratulations to all the girls on what has been their best game so far. Keep it up, your coaches are so proud of you.
