A total of five funding streams can be accessed through council’s Our Sporting Future Funding Program, ranging from payments of $500 up to $30,000 for major projects.
Mayor Shane Sali urged the region’s clubs to apply, indicating the money is up for grabs to aid with sporting programs and facility upgrades.
“Council is pleased to be able to continue offering these grants to the community and we want local sporting clubs to take up the opportunity,” he said.
“Funding is available under five categories with each offering different programs, upgrades or developments to benefit our local sporting clubs.
“Grassroots sporting clubs play such an important role in Greater Shepparton and council will continue to support them in whatever way we can.”
Major and minor project categories offer up to $30,000 and $15,000 respectively, while a women and girls’ stream can provide financial backing of between $500 and $10,000 for development and training of females in sport.
The other two categories range between $500 and $5000, with the junior and youth participation bracket supplementing initiatives that increase youth engagement, while the sports aid stream backs new and developing sporting organisations, special access and participation in projects as well as planning initiatives that address future sport and recreation needs.
