Seymour’s Goulburn Valley League season hasn’t quite gone to plan on the field in the senior football ranks, with the squad having secured just its second win at the weekend.

But on the GVL Data stats tables, there are plenty of Lions still leading the way when it comes to season averages.

As of the end of round nine (with the stats from multiple round 10 games still unavailable at the time of writing), Seymour players lead the way in six key stats categories.

Tom Maloney is averaging 17.7 contested possessions, 0.7 more per game than the next best across the competition.

Riley Mason is top of the pops when it comes to contested marks, with 3.6 per game putting him out in front for the league.

Ben Rigoni is doing plenty right in the eyes of the umpires, averaging four free kicks per game.

It could certainly be put down to his tackling prowess across the field — he is not only leading the average tackles per game (13) but the midfield tackles (10) as well.

Teammate Alexander Elliot’s average of three defensive 50 tackles per game just shades Rigoni’s (two) in that list.
