Lakey produced an absolute gem of a drive to get $34 pop Mac Almighty home in the Rich River Golf Club Pace (2160m).
Mac Almighty enjoyed a nice run in behind the leader and used the sprint lane to good effort to deny odds-on favourite Love Lou Longtime (Jordan Chibnell) in a bell-ringer of a finish.
The win took the son of Mach Three’s record to nine wins from 81 starts, with 23 minor placings.
Mac Almighty produced quarters of 31.8, 30.2, 28.9 and 29.2 for a mile-rate of 1:59.8 and score by a half-head.
Fittingly, Lakey and Hunter combined in the night’s final race.
Lethal Lover produced a quality display to win the Super Clean Linen Service Pace (2160m).
In what loomed as an even affair, the $5.50 pop pulled hard early and rolled to the front a lap out before powering home to win by 2.5 metres from Open The Valve ($6).
Lethal Lover produced quarters of 30.5, 30.1, 29.7 and 30.7 for a mile rate of 2:00.1
The other eight races were won by eight respective trainers and drivers.
The most dominant winner was Prettylilangus, who turned the Echuca Steel Sheds Trot (2160m) into a one-act affair.
Trained at Kyabram by Brent Thomson, Prettylilangus was driven by Nathan Jack and prevailed by 22 metres in a mile rate of 2:02.2.
Juanita Breen was in the good books with the punters after guiding Our Mystery Bet home in The Storm Maiden Pace (1755m).
Many judges pinpointed Our Mystery Bet as one of the better hopes on the program, but he had to withstand a late bid from Ariana Springfield to win by a head in a mile rate of 1:58.7.
Breen also trains the son of Betting Line.
Other trainer-drivers to taste success on the program were James McPherson (Warraderry) and John Newberry (Amber Alert).
Maree and John Caldow combined with Seaside Sister ($3.20fav) in the Ultimate Sniper Pace (2160m).
John and Ellen Tormey teamed up with the evergreen Ferocious Son, who won the Tongala Lions Club Pace (1755m).
Ferocious Son, now 11 years of age, was sent out favourite at start 124 and duly saluted for his 10th career win, producing a mile rate of 1:59.7.
The good thing of the night Roryville ($1.20 favourite) did enough in the two-year-old pace for driver John Caldow and trainer David Moran.
A son of the American-bred sire Huntsville, Roryville had been minor placed in four of his previous five starts, but finally broke through for that elusive victory at start six in a mile rate of 1:58.8.
Covered Kylie was the night’s other winner for trainer Ben Yole and driver Robert Walters.
