Sixteen players from GVL clubs will suit up in the VNL next season in the open and under-19 divisions, showcasing how much top-end talent there is across the region.
This comes after the GVL won a second straight State Association Championships title in May, where it proved itself to be the best country netball league in Victoria.
Mooroopna will have the strongest VNL contingent, with five Cats set to don VNL colours.
Star defender Ella Ogier (Ariels) and dynamic attacking duo Dayna Williams and Elle Brooks (Melbourne University Lightning) will strut their stuff in the open division.
While in the under-19s Asha Grey follows Williams and Brooks to Melbourne University, while Jazmin Clark heads to Casey Demons.
Reigning GVL A-grade premier Seymour and runner-up Shepparton United each have three players set for VNL duties.
After a successful stint with City West Falcons Sarah Szczykulski is set for a new beginning at Boroondara Express alongside star midcourter Casey Adamson — while sharpshooter Ella Tennant rounds out the contingent of Lions as she heads to North East Blaze.
United pair Sophie Garner (under-19) and Zoe Davies (open) will suit up for City West Falcons alongside Rochester’s Teal Hocking (under-19).
While Laura Cole rounds out the Demons’ exports as she joins Southern Saints.
Tatura talents Elsie Boyer (Boroondara Express) and Taylah Lloyd (Ariels) will get their opportunity to prove themselves in the open division.
Shepparton’s Caitlin Hill and Echuca’s Claudia Mawson are the sole representatives for their clubs, as they prepare to play in the open division for North East Blaze and Melbourne University respectively.
GVL operations manager Jo Spencer said it was a thrill to see so many girls being given an opportunity at VNL level.
“It is very exciting and further highlights the exemplary netball talent we have coming out of the GVL,” Spencer said.
“There are some girls there that have played VNL before and some others that haven’t, so it is a really exciting mix.
“We take great pride in how our netballers have performed in recent years and we hope that continues well into the future.”
