Well done on a great year, girls. Saturday just wasn’t our day.
Our defence worked really well and secured many turnovers for the match.
You girls ran all day and never gave up until the final siren.
We, as coaches, are very proud of you all for a fantastic season, and we look forward to hitting the court next year and going further in finals.
Well done on a great year.
C-grade: Mathoura 41 def Strathmerton 34.
We went out hard in the first quarter, fighting to get a good lead at quarter time.
Strathmerton came out determined in the second, with the score almost level at half-time.
The second half was a great spectacle with some amazing netball on show.
Maya Roudis and Shelby Marone were spot on with their goals, battling some strong defence from Strathy.
Our defence was too strong, with many turnovers and intercepts, which influenced the outcome.
Kylie Atkinson and Chantel Leggett were outstanding in the midcourt.
The girls are off the semi-finals in Blighty on August 25.
Mathoura Football Netball Club is so proud of all these girls. Their fighting spirit did us proud.
Under-13s: Mathoura 20 def Katandra 17.
Our first final, and boy, did we smash it!
Katandra was a force to be reckoned with, and Mathoura under-13s took on the challenge and won.
Shooting a whopping 20 goals in the final tally, the entire team went out on the court with everything to play for and used it to their advantage.
From the goal third to the midcourt to the defensive third, there was not one fault that could be seen.
These juniors are the foundation of the netball club and without them, we wouldn’t be Mathoura.
The support from the senior grades during the game pushed the girls to do better, and we could not be more thankful for all the support.
To our parents, helpers and committee, we thank you.
We would not be here without any of them.
In the next four weeks, all you’ll hear is, ‘Up the Cutters!’. Well done, girls!
