These were the words that rung out of the change rooms at the Rennie Recreation Reserve on Saturday afternoon, with Tungamah belting out it’s club song after securing a place in the Picola District Football League grand final.
Amongst those singing in tune was talented youngster, Jhett Cooper, with the rising star a staple on the Bears forward line.
Speaking after the side’s preliminary final win, the number 33 said it was “super” to be in the big dance.
“It’s a credit to our year really,” Cooper said.
“If we didn’t get there we’d be pretty disappointed with the year so it’s just good to get there and have a crack at it.”
From Shepparton, the young talent outlined the strength of the club’s senior playing group in 2022, with both the seniors and the reserves making the grand final.
One of a large number of contributors for the club this season, Cooper kicked 21 goals in 15 games.
Yet, the former Shepparton United player said it had probably been a below average year on the field.
“I haven’t done a whole lot,” he said.
“In the last few weeks I’ve been playing a bit deeper and that’s good, it’s sort of where I play my best footy.
“The team’s had a good year so that’s the main thing.
“It’s good for both of us (seniors and reserves) to have a good shot at it.”
Making the move to Tungamah this season, the forward was full of praise for his new club and Coooper “couldn’t be happier” with how the transition had gone.
“You can’t beat a country club, especially like Tungamah, Tungamah do it best, it’s a great club,” he said.
With the challenge of Waaia now pencilled in for the big dance, Cooper said his team would leave it all out there on Saturday afternoon.
“I think it will be a tight game, we’ll both bring our best and hopefully we walk away with it,” he said.
