Broken system irrigators can access up to 100 per cent of low-reliability water following the latest update on northern Victorian allocations.
The Broken system had been on 100 per cent high-reliability only.
Increases were also made for the Bullarook and Campaspe systems.
The Bullarook system seasonal determination increases from zero per cent of high-reliability water shares to five per cent.
In the Campaspe system, the low-reliability seasonal determination increases from 44 per cent to 47 per cent. The Campaspe system also has 100 per cent HRWS.
Seasonal determinations in the Murray, Goulburn and Loddon systems are unchanged at 100 per cent high reliability.
Northern Victoria resource manager Mark Bailey welcomed the improvements available in the Bullarook system.
“Recent rainfall across the Bullarook storages provided the resource to announce the five per cent HRWS seasonal determination,” Dr Bailey said.
“While the seasonal determination is relatively small, it adds to the volume carried over that is currently available for entitlement holders.
“Flows into Lake Nillahcootie from rainfall in the Broken system increased the storage volume and meant a full allocation to LRWS was possible.”
